This guy is so typical of buyers and lookers at livestock sales. When I
spotted this fellow, I loved his belly hanging over and the suspenders
holding up his Carhartt pants. A painting appeared in my mind and I had
to take the picture. The background was fun to paint, too. Enjoy.
This artwork is one of six that is entered in the 18th Fine Art & Jewelry Exhibition & Sale at the Bunkhouse Gallery March 6 & 7, 2010. The Bunkyouse Gallery is located at 573 Old Spicewood Rd., Cypress Mill, Texas. It is near Austin in the Texas hill country and is a great place to visit.
Sometimes painter's block comes along at the most inconvenient times. I am painting furiously for two upcoming events this spring and it would be good if it went a little more smoothly. This is the latest and I am not sure that it is finished. I will let it set for a few days and then decide to sign it or paint a little more.
The marshlands along the gulf coast have their own beauty which is what I am trying to capture here. Anyone have any thoughts?
This bridge is a heart stopper for me. First it is a one lane and it is very, very low. So low that when the river reaches a certain level the bridge is completely under water. Oncoming traffic is coming off an extremely sharp hair pin curve so there is no way that you can be seen on the bridge until they are right on you!
So what did I do. Why, I stopped in the middle of it to shoot a picture of course.
Just another to keep me fresh. It is easy to overwork a painting and to know when to stop (the bain of many oil painters). I painted this from a studio setup on a linen covered Raymar panel. It looks great framed in a very dark plein air frame, if I do say do myself. Hope you like it.
