Taking the 20 hour studio challenge

I recently signed up for the http://www.20hourstudiochallenge.com
that was started by artist Lori Woodward Simons. Her challenge was to help artists to be more disciplined and to provide a network for support....something we all can use regardless of our profession. By signing up I am promising to spend no less than 20 hours in the studio per week.

Today's studio challenge was completed in the company of friends who gather every Thursday to paint together. I find it helps me to stay on track with my art to say nothing of the fun that we have. We had a rather sparse group today. The painting in the far left corner is my newest one and will take a while to complete.

Debra (in the far right corner) has started a blog to embarrass us with our Thursday exploits :). You can read all about it at http://www.thursdaypainters.com

Painting Featured on Art Biz Blog

Today Chasing the Sun was the featured painting on http://www.artbizblog.com/. Alyson Stanfield who has made a career of helping artists market their work wrote about making note cards and postcards using original art. The blog entry was titled 'Excuses for using regular mail'.
Chasing the Sun is a painting of my granddaughter, Ashley. She looked so joyful as she was running down the beach. I was intrigued by the long shadow and the reflection of her yellow bucket in the wet sand and knew immediately that it was 'a painting'.
Thank you Alyson for selecting this work.
