Art Retreat At The Bunkhouse

That's me with the new painting.
I've been out of pocket for several days. I went with four other artists to the Hill Country outside of Austin, TX to The Bunkhouse for marathon days of painting (and eating!) It is amazing how much you can get done with no outside influences......no television, no cell phones, no internet.  I started this 30 x 40 painting and hope to have it finished in a few weeks.
The Bunkhouse, owned by rancher/artist Dena Wenmohs, is a wonderful artistic environment. The landscape is inspiring and the studio spaces are bright and artist friendly.

Here is the group painting in the studio which is attached to the 1890's era ranch house.

Here's another little cactus study. When I get three done to my satisfaction I will frame and then them donate to a silent auction. Money from the auction is used by a local hospital to buy toys and food for struggling families at Christmas.
This is another 5x7 oil and is looking pretty good on my easel.

Today I finished this 5 x 7 cactus study in oil. Now that it is finished I see where a little more yellow in the highlights would have been a good thing. I will fix that before it is signed.

After refining a little here it is again. This is probably against the rules.......but, I am making the rules..right?
