Grandpa's Place
by Shirley Quaid on 1/15/2010 8:43:15 AM

This is one of two paintings that sold last night. I am having a crazy good time with my palette knife. Used a combination of palette knife and brush when painting this. This scene makes me feel serene and takes me back to my childhood in rural Oklahoma. The buyer said that it reminded him of Wales. Art truly is universal.

6x8 oil on Raymar Panel.

I'd love to look at it more closely to see the knife work.... It's not easy to "paint" with a knife and it is sometimes what makes the painting so beautiful!

What I love about the knife is the wonderful color variations that show up unannounced! And the water.......what a wonderful tool for that. It is really making painting fun.
